the essential guide
to the bars, clubs, beaches and restaurants of Gay Tenerife
intro ...
Your first glimpse of this
dramatic island may well be the dominating presence of
Mount Teide,
Spain's highest peak, the worlds fourth largest volcano
and, even in the mild climate for which the Canary Islands
are
known for, can be cold enough for it to be snow capped
during the winter months. Teide spreads its influence across the
island, effectively dividing it into two zones. In the
hot, dry and barren south
is Playa de las Americas - a brash and lively resort popular
with young & lively (hetero) fun and sun seekers and
shell suit clad families.
To the north, and set amongst
banana plantations, fabulous lush tropical vegetation
and dizzying mountain scenery
is the more sophisticated and quainter resort town of
Puerto de la Cruz, which has been attracting more discerning
British
holidaymakers for well over a century. Besides some great
beaches, Tenerife offers those who want more than sunbathing
some great opportunities: history, sightseeing, walking,
mountain cycling and so many more activities are readily
available in this great destination.
Whilst the gay scene
is not as frantic as in neighbouring Gran Canaria, with
a handful of bars, clubs and beaches
catering as much for the locals as the visitors, you'll
(in our experience)
always be made more than welcome. Come and try it for
yourself!
